Which software is good for pointing the text on graphs with annotations?

Hi,

I have been using Paraview and Tecplot for the postprocessing. Actually, in most of the plots and figures I need to point out the trend on the graph using text and annotations. For instance, if there is increase in pressure on the plot I want to encircle that region or put arrow with text describing it.I tried it in both Paraview and Tecplot but they only allow us to use the text not other shapes or objects on the plots. Could you please suggest anything about it?

Although, I can copy the png pictures and use them in powerpoint and put text with annotations but that reduces the image quality.

I think Microsoft Visio and Matlab are good choices. Also if you are interested in LaTex, you can do it with that.

Pointing the text on graphs with Latex? First time I hear this. I am already using Latex but for writing the reports.

Yes, you can use \put command to put shapes, arrows and text on the graphs.

Inkscape should be fine.
