How to create a new forum/subforum?

Hello,

As staff from an HPC centre, we are exploring the possibility to start a forum for our CFD users here. Could someone explain me the steps/requirements for creating forums in this platform?

I have already sent a message through the "contact form", but have not received an answer yet.

Thanks a lot,
Alexis Espinosa

This is the right place to start a discussion about a new sub-forum.
https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/si...k-discussions/

But you will have to be more specific when pitching your idea there. As it stands now -sub-forum for the users of your HPC facility- I don't see how that could fit in. The scope of the proposal appears both too narrow (only users of your HPC facility) and lack focus (I'm sure that you run a whole zoo of different applications on your machines). Sorry, but that's just my brutally honest opinion. You might want to look into alternatives.

Hello Alexis,

Would your forum be private to only your group?

I have been lurking here for six years as a normal user, but don't know if there's any private forum available for a certain lab/department. Most of the forums, as we can see, are focused on a certain topic of interest--Electromagnetics, Structural Simulations, or around certain CFD software--ANSYS, CONVERGE, etc. I didn't see a forum only for a certain lab/department.

Also, based on the privacy and confidentiality requirements of your department, you might need a private forum to protect your Intellectual Property.

In such cases, it would be better to opt for a service that allows you to protect your IP.

Have a nice day

Thanks

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

You are both right, the final deployment of a subforum related to our HPC centre may have some inconveniences.

We are still exploring our possibilities.

Many thanks,
Alexis
