Hello friends,

Sorry to bother you. My CFD skills not good. I want to ask you a question about fluent-fan model. I am trying to model an air cooled steam condenser. I have to model a axial fan(pressure jump) in fluent but I dont know how I can do it. This is my model. While creating the geometry, should I draw the fan as a volume or a surface. thanks in advance. If you are interested in the flow structure and its effects on the performance, I would definitely go for a 3D Fan Model, with all the nitty gritty surfaces of blades, hub, and creation of rotating domain and use MRF.

But if I already had a fan curve, I would attach it to the 2D Circular surface, either a polynomial or as piecewise linear and then move ahead.

On another note, I would definitely extend the domain on the fan side to be on the safer side.

Thank you for your respond. 3D fan model would be better but actually for me it is too complex. I already create a surface as a fan. But the problem is I couldnt see it in boundry condition in fluent. Probably due to hanging surface but I dont know how to fix it. (and another problem is I dont have the fan curve, I just have fan speed, fan diameter, air flow on fan and fan static pressure and fan shaft power. Just with these datas Can I model the fan?.

What you need to do is to make the fan surface to be a shared topology to make it work as a fan (Thats what I do in spaceclaim).

Wouldn't it be possible to generate a fan curve with the data available by using fan laws ?

I am using design modeler, I made the fan surface as share topology I mean I used the share topology tool and its including all parts, but fan still not showing in boundary condition.
