what is the significant of stagnation pressure loss in fuel mixing after cavity

Hello,..
I am reading a scientific paper about the configuration of supersonic combustion. the system is consisted of cavity and grooves before the cavity.
in the results of this study, the stagnation pressure loss occurred downstream the grooves. therefore I want to know what is its physical meaning of this ?

Stagnation pressure is the sum of static pressure and dynamic pressure. It is a measure of total available momentum in a moving fluid. Fluids can exchange static and dynamic pressure reversibly. Stagnation pressure loss therefore means an irrecoverable pressure loss occurred. The location of where this decrease in stagnation pressure occurs tells you where are the irreversibilities in your flow.

Thank you for replying, now I have created a sort of physical meaning of stagnation pressure loss.

As indicated by LuckyTran, Stagnation pressure is the total quantity of energy in your fluid in terms of static and dynamic pressure.

In reversible process, static pressure is converted to dynamic pressure or vice versa according to Bernoulli principle. So total pressure remains same.

Total pressure loss occurs due to various reasons. One can be due to friction effects on surface of some solid body. It can also occur in sudden mixing.

So as you mentioned, in this paper what I read is to mix fuel and air via cavity and grooves, thus I think this is the reason why the stagnation pressure loss occurred after the grooved cavity. thank you
