Recommendation of paper for Reynolds Stress Model
 
I want to study Renolds Stress Model.
So I've chosen 2 papers but I'm not sure which one is better.

1. Original paper of Reynolds Stress model
First paper that I've chosen is Launder's paper.
What I know is he is the first person who purposed the Reynold Stress model firtst.
But I hesitate to choose it because there are many papers of modeling that has less explanation.

2. Review paper of Reynolds Stress Model
Second paper that I've chosen is Charles' review paper for Reynolds Stress Model.
At first I'm not sure whether this paper is treating Reynolds Stress model of Launder or just Reynolds stress term in RANS.
But in my opinion, I thinks this paper is treating Reynolds Stress model of Launder.
Actually I've read abstract part but I'm not sure that I understand properly because I'm not good at English(I'm not from an English-speaking country.)
Also there is second reason that I hesitate to read this paper is this paper is quite long to me who is not good at English.
But although I'm not good at English, if I have to read this review paper for learning well, I'm going to read this willingly.

I'm not sure if you actually understand the nomenclature, but first paper simply treats a single second order closure model. Second paper more generally treats Reynolds stress modeling in RANS, including second order models at paragraph 6, but such models have a small part in paper 2.

Besides this, I'm pretty sure that you won't die if you try to read both and your English might improve. Also, unless this was required by your medical doctor for health reasons (I highly doubt it), you don't need to delve into second order models if you don't want to. There is no point in trying to read about them, but just the less possible amount.

If you want to learn about an established subject area old papers are unlikely to be an efficient way to go about it. Text books, short courses, short course notes and PhD theses are likely to be more useful. When I started to learn about Reynolds stress transport models in the early 80s as part of a PhD study my most useful source was an Imperial College 3 day short course on the subject plus several PhD theses by earlier students. Another was talking to people in the field which was a fairly active area of research at the time.

Today the most useful source is likely to be a good text book on the subject but the good may be a problem given the motivations for writing text books these days. I have not been active in the field for the last few decades but Launder is an author I am familiar with and would recommend for this area. Something like this perhaps but it might depend on what you want to do with the knowledge.
