Wind Blade Serration Meshing Error
4 Attachment(s)
Hello, i am trying to simulate the 6DOF rotation of a serrated edge wind turbine, i have drawn my turbine on solidworks and imported to ANSYS. When i use watertight geometry i get an error at eh 'generate volume mesh' (i am using tetrahedral) that says there are gaps that must be filled or refinned. However, it highlights the serration which i purposely want to remain on my blades. Is there any way to fix without having to remove the serrations? Or at least modify their geometry. Kindly find below the serration pictures.

Imported into ANSYS what? That’s kind of like saying you made the part in CAD and need help with something software specific.

Design modeler. The turbine is drawn in ansys design modeler then imported to solidworks for adding serration. Then re-imported to ansys design modeler for enclosures and boolean finally to mesh.

I know ansys has problems with sharp edges but the whole point is having that sawtooth pattern so is there a workaround.

Have you seen this video? It’s from the ANSYS company

You can also try reducing the defeaturing tolerance, it should be less than the smallest details on your geometry.

I have tried to repair but it states that it failed. As for the 2nd option i do not know how and where
