Pointwise Volume Conditions for Ansys Fluent (Heat sink with 3D Fan)
 

Hi, Does any one know why the flow going beyond the heat sink .I made 4 blocks for two solid and two fluid volume conditions in Pointwise.

Unless you are using overset meshing, this grid topology is very wrong.

As the image shows, the heatsink block is overset (overlapping) the other blocks.

For this to work, the domains on the heatsink must be boundaries of the other blocks as appropriate. As if the heatsink block has been subtracted from the other blocks.

If you are doing heat transfer analysis, then the interior of the heatsink will also be volume meshed and all the heatsink boundary domains must be set to a non-inflating, Fluent BC type (Porous Jump, Fan, Radiator, or Interior) so those surfaces are properly tagged in the Fluent file.

I see you are using the Interface BC type in the mesh. That type will not work for interior domains.

Also, if you need to capture boundary layer flow, you will most likely need to use the T-Rex block solver in Pointwise.
