Hello. i am working on scramjet engine with combustion. When i run the case with density based solver, i got temperature triggred error while iterating. However when i switch to pressure based coupled, i got no error and it solves.

I just have a few questions;

1) I saw that pressure based coupled solver is alternative for density based solver. So is there any special cases which we should use only density based? or are we able to use pressure based coupled solver whenever density based solver is used?

2) This alternativity is valid for supersonic combustion?

I will be pleased if you clarify this issue

Nowadays, if you are using Fluent, both are valid alternatives. Actually, you may find that the density based solver has some limitations with respect to the pressure based SEGREGATED ones (don't know about the COUPLED).

If your solver converges then, it is very likely that it is a good solution (yet, it can't be excluded that the density based one would converge, in case, to a different solution).

The manual also has suggestions for each specific application of the diffetent models, including combustion

For supersonic things, or highly compressible ones, however, the density based solver is certainly more efficient
