Formula and Meaning of CpT

I'm to some types of visulizations in CFD, particularly those using CpT (total coefficient of pressure). It's been explained to me as a representation of the energy in flow. To my understanding it has a maximum value of 1 (meaning the maximum energy in the domain or on the plot), but i've seen the value be negative, which is confusing me.

Can anyone correct my understanding and/or explain how the value can be negative? If you know/can provide the formula that would be much appreciated as well.

Thanks!

This is a topic you can find in a basic aerodynamics course. Use some good textbook.
