cyclone separator pressure measurement vs cfd

1 Attachment(s)
hi all,

i am currently simulating a cyclone separator, i want to check the pressure drop and compare with experimental data.

i am not quite sure which value is reported at a certain position in scientific paper, i think only a point measurement for pressure is made (?),
if so, should i also use a random point at the wall in my cfd simulation or take the average from a cutting plane?

a screenshot is attached.

thank you for your time.

If you just take a point, you can move it around until you get the same value as you find in the experiment ;-)

Usually I would use a mass-flow-averaged pressure across the surface.

I know the area avrg pressure = 1/A * Sum ( p_i * A_i)

What does the mass-avrg pressure look like ?

Replace the A_i with the mass-flux for the face and A with the whole mass flux across the section.
