Faceted body meshing

Good morning everyone,

I am trying to mesh a geometry that I generated with a python module (PyVista). This geometry comes in a '.stl' or '.vtk' format, hence comes already 'discretised'. Due to the complexity of the geometry, anything I try to 'merge' the faces and have an unfaceted solid body (I convert the stl into solid step or brep with freecad or SALOME) seems useless.

The presence of these facets makes it impossible to mesh my geometry with a Boundary layer using opensource software. I have had to discard OpenFOAM/SnappyHexMesh and cfMesh because one cannot really add consistent layers and the other one gives me a geometry with stair-stepped edges, no matter the refinement.

I have been trying to use SALOME to mesh the stl into 3D, which I manage to do. However, the presence of all these faces makes it impossible to apply the viscous layer hypothesis and get a 3D boundary layer.

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to tackle this problem?

Thank you in advance for your reply!
