Program Used: STAR-CCM+ 16.04
Simulation Setup: Using overset mesh and DFBI (Dynamic Fluid Body Interaction) to analyze ship motions. Ship Speed: 2 m/s in the x-direction Simulation Time: 20 seconds Question: Do I really need a 40-meter-long overset mesh in the direction of motion? Reason for Question: The required overset mesh region becomes extremely large, especially when simulating ship speeds ranging from 1 to 10 m/s (with 1 m/s increments). As a result, the computational domain of the 3D cavity becomes excessively long and resource-intensive. Request: I would appreciate any advice or recommendations on how to manage or reduce the overset region while ensuring accurate simulation of ship motion. |
