Hello,

I am simulating a multiphase Euler Euler model in Ansys fluent. I am blowing in air into a high density liquid through a lance. Half of the domain is initialised with high density liquid which is my primary phase and the dispersed phase is air which is secondary. I run the simulation for good amount of time and I dont see any divergence. Some results look absolutely fine and even when I see the contour of the phase distribution it looks totally fine.

However when I change the limits to lower values like say 1e-2 instead of 1 and so on I see some cells in the secondary phase being totally filled with the values of primary phase and at the outlet being filled with these values which in reality shouldnt be the case, I hope. Is this due to numerical diffusion and the only way is to correct the cell size? my cell size to diameter of bubble is 1:1, is this the reason as well?

Hello,

The idea behind the Euler-Euler formulation of multiphase flows is that your computation grid should be large enough to contain up to 10 discrete phase (your bubble) diameters.

Also, considering that only one phase is solved and the other retrived, your error is certainly due to decimal rounding as 1e-2 is quite small compared to 1.

Regards,
