simulation of three dimensional flow in turbine

im final year student at university tenaga nasional and doing a thesis of 'computational fluid dynamic simulation of three dimensional flow in turbine' under supervision of Dr. Mohd Zamri Yusoff Regarding to the topic i would like to ask about the flow phenomena that accur in the turbine. for example about the vortex, secondary flow and etc.

hopefully you can give me some idea about how to explain and describe the phenomena in my thesis. thanks you

Re: simulation of three dimensional flow in turbin

(1).You can find a lot of information in the ASME/ Journal of Turbomachinery. (2). Based on my recent calculations, the secondary flow and vortices are highly complex and require low Re models and very fine meshes to capture the flow features. And the published information may not be correct or accurate at all. It is a research field.

Hi

You can refer a book on turbomachinery by Lakshminarayana. For numerical part paper by lakshminarayana in ASME Journal of Fluid Engg., vol 113, pp 315-352, Sept 1991 would be ideal.I had worked on unsteady flow simulation of compressors, if you need further help you can contact me.
