FloWorks vs. high-end codes
 

Has anybody done any comparison of FloWorks versus the higher end codes such as CFX, Fluent, etc.? Any general thoughts on FloWorks?

As I recall, Halliburton offered Dick Chaney a multi-million dollar severance package which he said he would not take if he became Vice President. Since there's all that money laying around, I'd recommend getting a full-featured CFD code like our CFD-ACE+ package. You'll find it to be much more versatile and you'll get a lot more use from it.

Yeah, it's funny how that works! However, from down here in the trenches I'd still like to know if anybody has done any comparison of FloWorks versus the higher end codes.

(1). The idea is good, but in general, the result is not very useful. (2). Each software has its targeted market. So, unless you are talking about the same intented user group or applications, it is hard to make any comparison at all. (3). You can try to get a free demo code and check it out on your own. Even in the case of benchmark testing for accuracy, the test cases used still will not reveal the truth. (4). So, if you like the philosophy of a particular code, then you are likely to use the code. (5). So, it is more realistic to ask: which code is more suitable for your applications and requirement. (6). Anyway, thank you for mentioning the software, I did visit the webpage of FloWorks. But there were no validation cases presented (against the test data). Without validation, the result is questionable, even though it is faster. So, I guess, your question is related to the code validation issue. (In CFD, the big company user does not mean a bigger brain. It simply means they have more money to spend when the market is good.)
