(1). There is a short paper published in the September issue,2001 of Air Force AFRL Technology HORIZONS, selected science and technology articles, entitled "Direct Numerical and Large-Eddy Simulation of Aerodynamic Flows". (2). The organization is AFRL's Air Vehicles Directorate, Aeronautical Sciences Division, Computational Sciences Branch. (3). There are also three AIAA papers cited, related to the higher-order accurate methods used in the simulation. (4). Other than the main subject of DNS and LES, it is interesting to note that they are using the name of "computational sciences branch". So, DNS and LES are no longer in CFD but officially it is in Computational Sciences branch. (5). It seems to me that the name is really a function of time now, that is " void function cfd( float time){...};". (6). The article can also be found at the website:http://www.afrlhorizons.com/Briefs/Sept01/VA0004.html (7). It is rather confusing to see computational physics, computational sciences, computational fluid dynamics, computational heat transfer, computational mechanics,...etc.
