St Vernant equations

Hi Everybody,

I am new to CFD and have to do flow routing using the dynamic wave model. I want to use an implicit scheme to solve the equations. Can anyone give good references where I can find detailed explanations. Thanks in advance.

Re: St Vernant equations

de St. Venant equations have been very popular over a century. They describe the depth-averaged flow motion in rivers, estuaries and coastal zones, etc. There are lots of method to solve these equations. One of the most classical one is that of Preissman's explained in detail in Chow's "Open Channel Hydraulics". Recently, the godunov type schemes are very popular. I cannot give you the references since there are so many things. First, try to read Chow's "Open channel hydraulics" and Weiyan's "Shallow water hydrodynamics".
