With no offence to John, I think if he would just stick to the topic and avoid wandering off into useless crap his replies would be more helpful. What the Chinese do with thier graves is none of his business and Mr. lijiang is owed an apology.

Cheers Amr

(1). Thanks. (2). We are in the war now. US has declared war, and it is a long term war. The war is about the freedom. It is a real war. If tens of thousands of police is guarding APEC conference, then we know that even attending a meeting in a big city is not safe. (3). Do you have ten thousands of police guarding this forum? (4). In the last election, nearly half of the voters said that they have another choice. So, the war is a continuing process. We welcome negative voices here. Without it, there is no forum. (5). By the conservation law of nature, if one keeps saying negative comments, he is not going to see any positive answer at all. So, to turn the forum into the one you like, one must "contribute" something first. One must be able to write something he like first. If a reader does not like to eat the donated food, and at the same time, he is not donating the food he likes, then he is going to starve to death. (6). The forum can not count on one person forever, for sure. So, if the readers can't develop the habit to write good comments here, the forum will disappear like companies, countries, etc... (7). Without the freedom, to travel, airlines will lay-off 100,000 workers, and it is happening. No freedom, no traveler, no airlines, no aircraft, no engines,...no income, no food... (8). If one has used a commercial CFD code for a long time, he is going to say that he likes the code (he does not like other codes). The fact is he is a slave of his program in his brain. When the program in his brain is changed, his mind will be changed. The purpose of a forum is to teach readers to have open minded thinking, so that the program in the brain can be changed, hopefully by himself. (9). So, in this war time (it is not a joke), I hope that our readers have the brain which can think and can run various programs, for survival naturally. (If you are Dr. Wen-Ho Lee, in jail, it would be very hard to understand that his visits to China was the source of his trouble. Well, now people are not traveling ) By the way, it is important to know that in a free country, there are always 50% of people against you. ( the definition of a friend is the one who is willing to criticize you. so, if you have 50% of people behind you(against you), you will be all right. Still don't understand? your enemy does not give you warning, he just kill you in the first place. ) (10). So, for your survival, you "must" give the world the "freedom", so that you can have friends who say no to you. That's good for your survival. If you eat bamboo like panda, you soon become endangered species.

What you're seeing here is the frustration of many people sifting through a lot of J.C.Chien's irrelevant ramblings to get few bits the information they seek.

The whole point of the forum is to have varying views contribute and provide guidance. If he has such advice, fine, but he should be direct about it. To have one person fill half the threads with replies, many of which do not address the issues, is excessive.

If Mr. Chien could show some restraint and follow his own rules this would reduce the clutter in the forum and the backlash against him. Namely:

1) Stick to CFD topics. "What is your CFD question?" as he himself puts it. If it's not a CFD related issue, people don't want to waste their time. That's not what they're here for. 2) "This is CFD forum." as he says. So keep it relevant to that.

(1). Announcements of CFD events should be posted in the NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS section. (2). Announcements of non-CFD related events should not be posted here in the main forum. (3). Isn't that the rule set by this forum? That's the point.

Dear John:

Talking about freedom, you need to consider the freedom and rights of others first.

Please do not promote wars and declare wars everyday. Instead, you should promote peace. With wars, you have no freedom, but killings and murders. With peace, you have beter chance of freedom.

Hurting and throwing abuse to innocent people freely is not freedom, just like sending poison letters freely to innocent people is not freedom.

Please everybody,

As little as anybody else is going to change his or her personality or behaviour as a result of verbal beatings in this forum, John C. Chien is not going to become a different person after this thread ends either. One price of the possibility to meet other people is the always existing risk that you might not like them. This forum is no different. If we want access to what we consider a person's good sides, we must inevitably also face the rest of his or her personality. While there obviously are principally questionable sides to limiting someone's access to this forum, there is also the simple fact that it would deprive the forum of this person's more positive contributions.

I am not saying that we should accept all views and opinions brought out in the open, but it's a matter of fact that screaming out in rage sometimes just makes things worse. In many circumstances, silence is the clearest and most effective sign of disapproval. If the result is a cold shoulder and lack of interest from the other forum readers, posting rubbish loses some of its attraction. Besides, even if the poster should be very percistent and seemingly deprived of any ability to take a hint, keeping your head cold, not engaging yourself in an endless series of mutual accusations, in itself reduces the amount of junk on the forum.

As someone said already, John has made important contributions in this forum, and I don't think shutting him or anyone else out gains the forum in the long run. In order to maintain the possibility of having a completely open forum, with all the pleasures and nuisances this offers, I would like to see EVERYBODY showing some restraint. If someone posts gibberish, don't answer or even read it, and it will be to the poster's own disadvantage. If someone posts completely unreadable messages, don't read it, and it's his or her own loss. If a thread goes banana, jump off as quickly as possible. If you sincerely want to complain about someone, contact Jonas directly, but keep it out of the forum. If sufficiently many react in this way, he will respond. If not, there is no reason to take action.

There will always be people out there without manners, but if all of us make this effort to keep the forum clean, the damage that these people may inflict on it diminishes. Good luck to us all!

Regards,

Lars Ola

(1). In this cyber world, people are trying to keep their identity as human being, with a sense of love (and hate). (2). Unfortunately, in the donated food center of the cyber world, one can't complain about the taste and the quality of the food. (3). If a person is looking for good photos , with a click, he can see beautiful pictures. (4). The simple solution is to get out of the donated food center, and visit the pay-first cafe. (5). This is nothing but a donated food center for needy people. Don't try to identify the person who donated the food with bad taste. It is the reader who downloaded the page in the first place. It is a virtual world!!! so, don't try to fall in love with the pixels on the screen.

(1). Very good idea. (2). US has been protecting countries from the communist threats for many years. (3). If you are a Chinese, then you have just displayed the very bad manner in the world stage and let down other Chinese around the world. (posting the announcement in the news section is not my rule. you should see the webmaster.)

Sorry, but I disagree with this.

John's comments are almost always; you can do this or this code is rubbish.

Then he goes off on 'I've been writing cfd for 20 years and therefore I know this better than you'

Just because he makes a comment on everything doesn't mean he is making any kind of useful contribution.

Perhpas ignoring him is best.

Great message, I fully agree with you.

However, I'm a bit hesitant if it is acceptable that one person writes 20% of all posts. Especially when the messages are mostly repetitions of the same ideas again and again, year after year.

For us who have followed this forum for a couple of years John's posts are getting very irritating - Frankly speaking I'm afraid that John scares away many experienced users who would otherwise give more valuable answers.

The fact that John also often mixes his messages with irrelevant and arrogant comments about everything from religion to flee-markets doesn't make things better and it is really bad for the atmosphere here.

If you ask me it is about time to do something about the excessive postings from John C. Chien. I agree with you that we can never change his personality, so the best approach would be that the webmaster limits John's posts, or simply removes them. If we do this I'm convinced that others will more than make up for the few good comments that John admittedly sometime produces.

(1). I totally agree with you that we should see more posted messages from this "anonymous this time", if he is a person, not a virus created robot. (2). He has just invented this "CFD Human Behavior" field to the world, so, we shall see whether "anonymous this time" is computer code or not. (3). SAY SOMETHING CFD, Mr. anonymous this time. John C. Chien should be very happy to hear that you have been reading his garbage for a couple of years. That's what I called "influence". The first step in the world of CFD. (4). I have been reading FrontPage books, I think, there is a chance that I will move my posted garbages over to the new sites, if I can learn how to do it. Right now, he is just studying the books, so be patient. (5). To announce in this forum, to take over the forum , is a threat to the job of the webmaster and his sponsors. We would be happy to see your posted message on CFD, so start writing now, Mr. anonymous this time.

(1). We are still waiting for you to move the announcement over to the news section. (2). A person has to be responsible for his own act, if your are a Chinese, naturally. Don't set the bad example in this world wide stage, please. (3). You could also subscribe to the news, which was recently announced at the top of the page.

(1). Click the Resources button, go to the end of the page, click the statistics button. Then you will see pages after pages of bar charts in terms of the number of hits. (2). To sell this place to the sponsors, you need that. So, please help, starting writing, even if you are the computer virus. At least, in this way, you can help the webmaster, and you will have more years to read John C. Chien's garbages.

Would it be possible to create a whole new forum for John C.Chien? BTW John, on a note taken from "anonymous this time", that so called "guy from Boeing" whom you mailed your resume a while back, really does command great experience, heads CFD at Boeing and could have provided very valuable contributions, advice and help to this forum, if not for your somewhat disrespectful remarks.

(1). No. (2). We had many in detail e-mail communications. (3). I had provided him a lot of useful information. I think, they realized that they are going down, so they didn't make any offer. I am very lucky. At least I don't have to worry about this massive lay-off. (4). Seattle will once again ghost town, this coming winter will be very cold for them. If the company is cutting costs, then CFD can't save them. (5). It is a good idea not to reveal one's identity in the world wide open forum. We sure welcome him back here, with a different name, I guess. The important thing is to exchange ideas through vague hints, because this is not the place to give out awards. (6). Anyway, aircrafts related industries will have severe cold winter this time. Why travel, if you can use Internet. Why build fighters, if you can use GPS guided bombs or cruise missiles?

(1). It is not a good idea to have a separate forum for John C. Chien, because he is only interested in keeping this forum alive, that's all. At least for now. (2). He is already moving out of the CFD into other field. (3). If you think for a moment that there are thousands of thousands of websites out there, and a 12 years kid can easily put out a website, then this is nothing but another website generating hit numbers for sponsors. (4). I always have to be very careful, so I don't talk about the real CFD.

1) John chien has created a new field called " CFD is war". 2) He has been fooling around like an anonymous virus. 3) No matter who he is, Ah Ben Chien or anything else, it is the result of bad coding. 4) Actually CFD is not war, being fired is also not war, being fired at is. 5) Learing front page is definitely not war, it is kid stuff. 6) No matter what you do, do not fool around, find a temp in the local corner shop or digging up your backyard to build a bunker is still better than fooling around in this forum. Who knows, we may find a big burial site there. But you will be brought to justice "dead or alive".

Dear Jonas!I am surprised and pained to see your words "I should say that I can ban people... when the vast majority agree on this".The number theory will never help in this.Sacratis,JesusChrist,Galelio,Columbus to some extent and many more such noble men were victimised because of a bad majority. You have said a wonderful thing earlier:Just ignore the mails of irrelevance and such things will have their own natural deaths, since they are neglected and that will be very pinching.Let people follow this and try not to waste your time anymore.Regards.
