Varying damping during solution

Default Varying damping during solution

Hi!

I want to know if there is any method to adapt the damping (e.g. pseudo time step) during a solution so as to accelerate convergence. I've heard that some commercial codes have this ability but I haven't been able to find out any details.

Please help!!
