Kinetic schemes which use non-compact velocity distribution function (like the Maxwellian) have more numerical dissipation (This can be clearly seen in the case of a scalar conservation law) as compared to some other schemes (like Roe or AUSM). Does anybody know of any work where this aspect is investigated for the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations ?
