stabilty analysis

Hai, How can one do the stability analysis of nonlinear partial differential solved using explicit finite difference scheme thanks

Re: stabilty analysis

For a clear exposition of the most useful early methods, look at

Hirt, C. W., "Heuristic Stability Theory for Finite-Difference Equations," J. Comp. Phys., v. 2, p.339 (1968).

For a comparison and analysis of most of the early ideas, check

Roache, P. J., Computational Fluid Dynamics, Hermosa Publishers, Albuquerque, NM, 1982 (revised edition). This book is out of print. But a Google search on "P. J. Roache" will lead you to a web site that still has copies for sale.

Good luck.

hai Thanks for the reply, But may be you can help me to get the solution for what I am looking for I have partial differential equation of type del_U/del_t=t-(1+(del_u/del_x)^2)^0.5. now to got for neumann analysis using fourier series thanks in advance

Sorry. I haven't tried anything like this particular equation before. But there are a lot of readers on this forum. Surely someone can help?
