Hello, I will start to prepare my project for simulating air/water flow in a cylindrical tank. There is not any heat transfer to the system and assuming there is not any temperature increase. It will be a 3D simulation. I want to ask you 2 questions:
1.Do I have to solve the energy equation for this case? 2.What type of numerical method can you offer me? Thank you very much for your help.Have a nice day to you. |

Obviously no need to solve the energy equation. For incompressible free surface problems, VOF or Level Set methods are first choices.

Hi again,
Thank you very much for your suggestions Versi. What do you think about the point relaxation method? Is it also convenient to use this method? Thanks |

Convergence rate: point relaxation < line relaxation, especially when Re is high. But in CFD, LU-SGS scheme belongs to point relaxation. It can do high Re problem. It is also simple to code.
