ENO scheme and Courant number.

Dear all,

Has anyone fond that the ENO scheme is dependent on the Courant number when applying it to the linear convection equation? Also, how dependent is the result upon the number of nodes across a given disturbance? For example if a time dependent sin wave boundary condition is applied at the inlet (in a 1d case) and a single wavelength of the sin wave is convected downstream such that is lies across x nodes, how dependent is the result on the number of nodes, x??

Regards,

J.

NO takers for the question then?

Yes, the ENO scheme, like most schemes, is dependent on the Courant number. Some schemes even have one or more "magic" optimal Courant numbers, as can easily be shown by linear stability analysis. The dependence on grid spacing depends on the order-of-accuracy. This is basic stuff, but experimenting for yourself always helps dramatize and drive the point home.
