Hi all,
In a WIND code common file format (*.cgd), (see the following link) http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/winddocs...s.html#cfddefs:figures any one knows what is the meaning of ZHOLE variable under FRNG BND node? How is this variable defined? I can not find it in the spec document. Thanks! |

ZHOLE is a label that associates a region of hole/fringe points with a unique identifier. It is used in gman, the grid management code. It serves no role in the flow solver.

greg, thank you very much indeed!
Two more related questions: 1). Could you let me know what is the value definition of all data in the ZHOLE array? If there is a region of hole/fringe points, its cooreponding index in ZHOLE array should be 1 or 0 or any other number? I want to know this value, since I could not find this information in GMAN manual either. 2). I noticed that there is also a IBLANK array in cgd file which stores hole/fridge flags. So what is the different of ZHOLE and IBLANK? Simply one is used in solver and the other in GMAN, right? |

As it was explained to me by a WIND developer - the ZHOLE variable (which I think is declared as a scalar integer) takes on user-defined variables in GMAN, so the value depends on the user. It is also a single value per zone, a label to denote a region of points whereas the IBLANK value is a label per point. Pertaining to the use, ZHOLE is used only in GMAN, while the IBLANK array is constructed in GMAN (or some other grid assembly code) and passed on to the flow solver. Like I said, that is how it was explained to me by one of the developers. I don't use GMAN so that's about the limit of my knowledge concerning ZHOLE. Hope it helps.

Thank you, greg. From the common file manual, ZHOLE should be a 1-D array of size nfringe points. see: http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/winddocs...s.html#cfddefs:figures
But the information you provided is really very helpful to me. Again, thanks a lot! |
