Recirculation in a vessel due to Swirl. Few pubs.?

Hi

I have found few publications (actually, none!!) regarding visualization of swirls inside a cylindrical vessel, where flow recirculation near the walls are seen in the vertical-cut plane.

I wonder whether is because wrong calculations or just none has published that.

I think you can find many papers on flow inisde a cylinderical cavity with a rotating lid. Try serach on google.

I haven't found any paper where the flow is visualized in a vertical(i.e. transversal) cut plane just to see recircualtion near the wall, for a swirl. (I've more than 5 GB in papers.pdf files in my computers downloaded both from internet and from the journals since I'm sitting in a reseach institute + old papers in journals) I've found nothing, yet (I hope)

You might try Bob Ribando at the University of Virginia (http://www.people.virginia.edu/~rjr/). He did some work simulating liquid centrifuges in the 70's and 80's. I can't remember the particular visualizations included in the papers, but recirculation was a part of his interests at the time. He has a full bibliography at the website above.

Good luck. (tell him Jim sent you!)
