Default Wall Damping Function

HI,

While working on k-epsilon turbulence model, for low Re case we use wall damping functions as given by Lam & Bremhost, and Launder-Sharma. I want to know how will we decide that how many cells from the wall boundary should we use the function. Is it just the cell adjacent to wall or on some other criteria.

Thanks

Hi,

Wall damping functions are applied to all the cells in the domain. The fact is that their value is 1 (no damping then...) far from the walls. The "frontier" is obtained as a result of the calculation and then, is very difficult to know which cells will be affected previously.

Best regards,

Gorka
