Solidification problem

Hi,

I have written a code for laminar liquid flow, encountering solidification. I have the composition oscillations in the solid phase (I am solving NS, Energy, and mass conservation equations). Does anyone know how should I get rid of sharp variations in the solid phase? I have tested small time stepps and variable grid sizes but neither have worked. Thanks for your help.

Re: Solidification problem

I have implemented the algorithm outlined in this reference:

C.R. Swaminathan and V.R. Voller On the Enthalpy Method Int. J. Num. Meth. Heat Fluid Flow. Vol 3. p. 233-244 (1993)

I have obtained very good results with it. Moreover, the solutions computed using this algorithm do not exhibit non-physical peaks.
