I am an undergraduate aerospace engineering student. For one of my classes, I need to give a 5 min tutorial on the best way to export CADs from Pro/E to CFD programs. I chose ESI because that is the program used at my school. I have talked to several people including professors and nobody has given me the same answer twice. It seems there are many ways to do this and nobody can tell me what the best way is.
Questions: What type of file should the CAD be exported as from Pro/E? Is there a particular program that should be used to fix the surfaces like CADfix in the exporting process? Is there a better program than ESI that requires a simple and standard exporting process from Pro/E? Be forewarned my knowledge in CFD is mostly about the Navier–Stokes equations and how to actually use the various programs is very minimal. Any information would be welcomed. Thank you, Martin |

I always export SAT files. I am not a big fan of ProE, so if I am stuck with a ProE file the first thing I do is move it to SolidWorks. Still, I believe fluent has a program that is useful for the import of files. I know they have one for SolidWorks, and if I remember correctly they have one for ProE as well. Fluent heals geometry when you import it, but you still have to check it over. I have had good experiences with it, but there is a learning curve. Anything beats drawing in gambit tho.
