Question SQP method for adjoint based aerodynamic shape optimization

Could anyone tell me how to use the SQP(NPSOL package)method for adjoint based aerodynamic shape optimization? Or give me some references in detail. Thanks in advance.

Learn LNKS (Lagrange-Newton-Krylov-Schur) first, it provides a more powerful framework and RSQP drops out as an unpreconditioned and generally suboptimal case. Read the Biros & Ghattas papers, or the Akcelik et al. survey.

Thank you Jed. But I can not understand. Will NPSOL give a searching direction? I can not input objective function and constrains(also their gradients) analytically but in discrete form.
