Hypersonics
 

Hello,

I am currently trying to select a code to model hypersonic flow, capturing the correct real gas effects.

Any reccomendations/comments on Fluent, GASP, CFX, or CFD++.

Real gas effects mean different things to different people. For some, it means that chemical kinetics, or air dissociation are taken into acount. For others, it means chemical kinetics + non equilibrium thermodynamics. For others still, it means a gas with the density of a fluid, the supercritical properties regime. GASP seems to be the most accepted commerical code for hypersonic stuff. It is pretty reasonably priced, as far as I remember.

I use CFD-Fastran. It has all the features of GASP & NASA's overflow combined. The website is www.cfdrc.com
