Default Why does the errors oscillate strongly in my multigrid method?

I am solving a two-dimensional Poisson equation with two-level V-cycle.
However, I observe that my errors and residuals decrease with oscillation. In addition, the convergence is slower than single grid. Can anybody tell me how to detect what is wrong?
