air conditioning in cars

Hello Friends
I want to model air conditioning inside a car. I have two questions
1) Does fluent can solve the problem
2) which loads should i consider for cooling

Is there any one who is working on such kind of research plz guide me how to proceed
if some type of material is availabale please post address

Thank you very much for your help

Hi,
Regarding the proper load calculation procedure consult ASHREA handbooks, but from a common engineering guess, I presume load throgh the glasses is very significant in hot weather condition, perhaps throgh conduction through car body, etc. But if there is heat leakage from the engine, due to poor inulation that may be significant, but considering a reasonable guess I doubt the latter is important. For instance I use my air conditioning for hot weathers only, for cooling.

Regrds,

TAW

taw, thanks for your suggestion,
can you please tell me where I can find the reference to model air conditioning inside a car

Hi,

As I mentioned ASHREA (american society of heating, refrigeration and air cond. engineers handbooks gives the general guidelines for designing, load calculation, etc. Especially the 1981 or 91 ?? edition contains the basic design guidelines. The recent editions deals with latest codes, ideas on the field. And you should be able to find the handbook from your library.

For instance our library has the latest edition online: 2007 ASHRAE Handbook - Heating, Ventilating, and Air-Conditioning Applications

chpters 9 deals on
Automobiles and Mass Transit, Automobiles, Design Factors, Air-Handling Subsystem, heting Subsystem, Refrigeration Subsystem, etc

Best wishes,

TAW

thank you taw for your valuable suggestions
but i dont have to design air conditioning system, I have to do modeling, meshing in Icemcfd & solving in Fluent
If you are working on such kind of research plz guide me how to proceed which mesh & bc should i use.
If you have any referance link related to topic pz replay
