zmester is on a distinguished road
I developing my own solver that will be quite universal. My first step was to create a .msh file viewer and cell center, cell volume calculator. This is a java code, you can dowload it from www.herczz.extra.hu . I'm going to extend it with a meshquality calculator (minangle, skewness, maybe aspect ratio) soon.

Don't you know what is exactly the definition for aspect ratio in case of 2d/3d mesh, triangle, tetra, quad, polyhedron cells? Thanks.
