Solving linear stability eq.

I want to solve the linear stability equation.

Exactly the equation is Rayleigh equation or Orr-Sommerfeld equation.

In my text, there are some methods about temporal stability solution, not about spatial stability.

How can I solve this equation about spatial stability ??

If there is good reference, please introduce to me.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Solving linear stability eq.

Have a look at the book "Hydrodynamic stability" by Drazin and Reid. It should contain all you need to know.

Tom.

P.S. For marginal stability the spatial and temporal approaches are equivalent.

Re: Solving linear stability eq.

In numerical method, I have used once the Keller-Box method to solve O-S type equation.

You may use Shooting Method!

Re: Solving linear stability eq.

You could fix the spatial growth rate and then try to solve for Reynolds number as the eigenvalue (if you are doing it the other way around right now).
