Progress variable

In the CFD simulation of combustion, will the progress variable definitely reach 1 given enough time? I am running a case of channel flow (combustion buzz-rig) with an initial in-channel velocity of 30m/s. I think I have run the case for enough time but the progress variable seems to stay stably at 0.16, which is far from 1. Is there any problem?
