Dear CFD experts:

Can someone suggestion references on modeling foaming?

To be more specific:

Inside a test tube, I have liquid A. Then, liquid B starts injecting into the test tube at certain speed. This not only creating mixing of liquid A and liquid B, foaming also occurs at the top of the liquid/air interface.

If VOF and/or level set is used to model this, the cell size probably will have to be VERY small in order to resolver the thickness of the liquid/air interface. Hence, may not be a feasible approach (for those who do not have access to a super-computer).

Is there any modeling technique that can simulate the foaming process (with or without the liquid mixing)?

Thanks!

Pei

Thanks a lot CFDtoy!

The froth and foam modeling paper looked quite interesting.

I will get the other 2 papers soon.

Best,

Pei

Hello Pei!

I have to solve a similar problem.
Do you have any paper or experience about on modeling foaming which can share?
I'm thinking to use an open source software, like openFOAM.

Best regards

Jonas
