Large pressure gradients = anisotropy???

Hello! I have a question about two-equation turbulence modelling.
While gradients of normal Reynolds stresses are negligible in flows of small pressure gradients, do large pressure gradients flows (such as over sharp curvatures) necessarily make the gradients of these normal stresses become significant and hence affecting the solution?
Thank you and I appreciate your insights.
