Can anyone tell me if there are any CFD qualifications or governing bodies which cover best practice. I know NAFEMS have a registered analyst which covers FEA, is there an equivalent award which shows some level of competence in cfd? If anyone is aware of such an award does it have any real recognition?

Take a look at the European Research Community on Flow Turbulence and Combustion (ERCOFTAC) website at
http://www.ercoftac.org/ Also check out Casey, M.; Wintergerste, T. 2000. ERCOFTAC Special Interest Group on "Quality and Trust in Industrial CFD". Best Practice Guidelines, v1. |

Thanks Mark,
I have a copy of the ERCOFTAC report you mentioned. I think i should explain a bit more what I am after: I am looking for an award or qualification by a body which would check a level of competance and adherence to best practice. The registered analyst scheme by NAFEMS requires proof of work carried out, the importance of the work (public disaster, loss of life with failure), formal training etc before awarding a registered analyst qualification. This qualification i believe covers all numerical analysis however i was wondering if there was a particular cfd award and how well respected any awards might be. |

Don't know if this is what you need, but I seem to remember that CFX was certified to meet the quality standards of the ISO (International Standards Organization?).
