I´m considering COMSOL as a product for use in chemical unit operations modelling (reactors, pipelines, crystallizers). I´m a former CFX user and would like somethign that gives the same functionality.
I´ve had a quick look at COMSOL and it seems to be the real deal, although it may fall down a bit in the turbulent modelling area.

Can anybody give me a steer as to its suitability for chemical engineering ?

Thanks, Rosie.

Well, do a google on Comsol and it´ll bring you to their website. It´s an offshoot of Matlab and they claim to compete in the CFX/Fluent space.

Big advantage is that they do not charge an annual licensing fee, but have a one time buy in, and then you pay a smaller amount anually, if you want updates.
Another advantage is that they´ll let you have a three month free trial.

I´m still looking for an answer to if it is a good option for chemical engineering. Thanks.
