Hi

Those who ever used the radiation modelling features in fluent, or know from elsewhere the Radiative Transfer Equation, please help me.

from the fluent theory guide:

I understand that the 1st term on the right hand side is the normal intensity of a plate perpendicular to the beam and its temperature is the same as the temperature of the medium in that point.

I also understand that the sigma*t^4 is the total emission of the black body, and the normal intensity of the black body is the totalemission/pi in 3D. it comes from Lambert's law that states that intensity=normalintensity*cos(alfa).

But using this law in 2d, the normalintensity=totalemission/2
Am I right ?
So in case of 2d simulation, in the equation below sigam*T^4, 2 should be instead of pi.
Please explain it. I want to use Discret ordinate model in a 2d simulation.

Other question also arisen in me. Dont you know why it is necessary to give both theta and phi numbers for angular discretization in 2d (fluent)? I think angular discretization should be possible with just one. In 2d we have angle intead of solid angle.
thanks
