Hello, Guys:
We gonna do some simulations on gas turbine. But I don't have any experience. Can someone tell me where I can find some basic information about CFD in gas turbine? like what turbulence model I should use? How to deal with the moving grid? how to simplify the gas turbine (simulation model)? where I can find some experiment data so I can compare with numerical simulation? what is "casing treatment"? And is there any free code available for gas turbine? I think develop a new 3-D N-S solver is too much for me. Modified some existed code is the most efficient way to get the job done. Thank you in advance!!! |

Hi
For Refrence, refer B. Lakshminarayana Book on Turbomachines. (Refer the Book Section of this site). If you are in US, ADPAC is avialable refer :capella.colorado.edu/~laney/softint.htm Look for paper by Prof. Dawes, Denton. One issue I remeber is 1992 Journal of Turbomachines. Experimental data are avilable from : http://ercoftac.mech.surrey.ac.uk/ I have worked in the same field, developed my own sliding mesh code during my Masters. Good Luck Apurva |

thank you very much!!!
......I am at US but not a citizen, damn ADPAC has export control. http://ercoftac.mech.surrey.ac.uk/ I only see two set data of experiment for boundary layer. Did I miss something? thanks a lot |

Hi,
It was an algorithm developed by me. To descibe here it is very difficult. It was based on interpolation of intermediate grid point between 2 sliding block after it has rotated. Then the fluxes where calculated using the properties of two adjacent cells of both the blocks and the common area between the two cell. Hope it helps. If you are interested in the my Masters Thesis. You can get a digital copy of it from library of IIT Bombay. The webaddress is :www.library.iitb.ac.in Regards Apurva |
