Finite Elements vs Finite Difference Vs Finite Volumes -- CFD Online Discussion Forums

T3rmInAt0r New Member Christos Join Date: Apr 2010 Posts: 6 Rep Power: 16	I guess no introduction is needed. Although I had studied for a long time the properties and the "structure" of these methods I still face a difficulty. I cannot really spot for what reason the "best" CFD solvers use FV ? I can understand FD doesn't make use any of physics, it's purely mathematical like in signal analysis. But on the other hand FE is generic and I can't see any disadvantage over FV (for sure FV is subset of the former...) Anyone more experienced? 'cause I don't want to take it for granted without knowing the REAL WHY Thanx all for reading
