ut =A*ux (Transport Eqn. first order)
I would like to compare the sloving efficient by using finite difference method, finite element method and finite volume method, respectively. Now I have already coded a finite difference scheme with FORTRAN to solve this very simple equation ut=A*ux, A is a coefficient.
Does anyone point out how I can set up a finite elment and finite volume scheme to solve this equation. Any references or source code would be very appreciate. If someone can recommand me some examples would be really helpful.
I dont know about FEM but have coded the same equation in FVM, if in 1-d it is as good as FDM with only difference that the space gradient is calculated at cell interfaces, i,e at the mid point of nodes.
