ut =A*ux (Transport Eqn. first order)
I would like to compare the sloving efficient by using finite difference method, finite element method and finite volume method, respectively. Now I have already coded a finite difference scheme with FORTRAN to solve this very simple equation ut=A*ux, A is a coefficient.
Does anyone point out how I can set up a finite elment and finite volume scheme to solve this equation. Any references or source code would be very appreciate. If someone can recommand me some examples would be really helpful.

I dont know about FEM but have coded the same equation in FVM, if in 1d it is as good as FDM with only difference that the space gradient is calculated at cell interfaces, i,e at the mid point of nodes.
