Need advice on software choice

Dear all,

I am about to embark on a research project involving the design and optimisation of a Wind Turbine. Physical models in a laboratory have been encouraging, and now we need to use cfd to progress with our design.

My question is what package would you recommend for this? the issue we have is that we need to model the turbine with the blades moving due to the fluid flow(we have done a static analysis on fluent) and here is where is gets a little trickier (for me anyway)- we need multiple parts of the turbine moving- i.e including the yaw drive so the turbine could face the direction of fluid flow?

Software price and the training isnt particulary an issue, we just need to know what would be the best package to use for this problem.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi

Both Fluent and CFX can be used. But the issue is to create 3D CAD model for the same. Once this is done, both CFX and Fluent has the capability solve these types of simulations.

Thanks
