guys, I`m browsing these pages quite often, but have never seen here any thread on 1D gas dynamics. Is here someone who works with Lotus Engine Sim., Wave, Boost, Gasdyn or any other engine cycle and gas dynamics 1D code?

I`m trying to gather as much info as possible on "modelling of the non-stationary gas flow physical phenomena in the engine manifold", particularly: 1) codes overview (name, programmer, users...) 2) What method is used for solving the gas state inside the elements and at the boundary conditions? (LW, m. of characteristics..) 3) What flux limiter is used? 4) What are default numbers for "good port" flow coeff and valve lift polynomial (if any)? 5) Is pipe heat transfer description based on Reynolds analogy? 6) What cylinder scavenging models are available? 7) Is it possible to simulate real geometry features? (pressure-loss junction, bend) 8) What about mesh-length sensitivity? (repeatability of the results, calculation time..) 9) What about stability and time consumption of calculation when plenums/silencers are added to the model? 10) And finally, the vicinity of computed results and those experimentally measured.

Also, any tip where guys working in this field could be found is appreciable.

These are pretty in-depth questions to be asking (most people wouldn't know what a flux limiter is). Are you looking to break into the market by any chance?

For the record, I work with WAVE.

yes, I am about to break into the market and disrupt it completely

Well, seriously: currently I am studying and gathering info hard, I will do something in the field (new pipe algorithm able to cope with variable gas properties / species)(we are also interested in few relatively new methods which might give an iprovement in stability of modelling and calculation of tapered pipes). First step is the research "modelling the physical phenomena of the non-stationary gas flow in the engine manifold"; (I hope I have not revealed too much ))that´swhy I am looking for the above info.

Could you release something concerning wave?
