Do you know, in FLUENT5, if when you put a pressure as inlet this implies that the inlet velocity is equal to zero? in other term, is it a total pressure or a static pressure? thanks julien

Hello Julien,

If you use Pressure inlet it is the total pressure of the fluid at the inlet plane, In incompressible flow the static pressure are related with the total via the bernuolli relation. In compressible flows the static pressure are related via isentropic relation for an ideal gas.

You enter the gauge total pressure (p_abs=p_operating+p_gauge), see operating panel.

Bye

Dear client,

For details, please refer to the User's Guide. But to give you a quick answer, it's total pressure if the flow enters through the inlet.

Come to think of it, the GUI actually shows that FLUENT 5 expects a total pressure at the inlet.
