Impact of particles on the Guide vane of francis Turbine

Hello Everyone,

I modeled a 250 KW Francis turbine. I gave mass flow as inlet and opening as outlet. I inserted quartz particles at inlet .
I used the following turbulence models
1. K-Epsilon model with med intensity 5% and High Intensity 10%,
2. SST with med intensity 5% and High Intensity 10%,
3. Zero gradient.

I used very fine mesh at wall boundaries i.e., y+ as 30,100,400,1300 and 4000

i used no-slip condition and wall roughness as 40 microns

i tried with various quartz concentrations alos (upto 10%).

when i look at the particle track, the particles are not impacting the guide vane suction surfaces where in real practise severe erosion due to particle impact is being observed. The particles are observed to be moving parallel to the guide vane wall without sliding/touching .

please suggest me the reason for the non impacting of the particles at the wall surfaces.

Thanks in advance.
