Can we use CFD in reciprocating compressors? if yes then how would it be helpful............i mean in which areas we could apply it......pls help me

certainly you can, the keypoint of success is to manage the movable grid. such analyses can be useful e.g. for valve flow characteristics optimization , thermodynamic phenomena (heating/cooling of the medium being compressed)...

u can surely use CFD for reciprocating compressors.can i know some more details on ur problem as i am now working in the R & D department of hermitically sealed compressors mnfg company.

Dear Krishna thanks for your reply. I am also working in the design department of compressors mfg. company,in the next year we are going to develop new compressor so for that i wanted to know if we could apply CFD in design of compressor. So could you pls give me the idea i.e. which parts can we design with the help of CFD? Can we predict the air flow in Recip air compressor with the help of CFD? Pls reply me soon.
