Finite volume or finite differene for free surface

Happy New Year,everybody:

I want to simulate falling liquid film using CFD codes. Does anybody know some codes using Finite Volume Method(FVM), together with moving boundary(MB) and free surface(FS)?

maybe can tell me some methods

Thanks for attention !

Hi,

Did you have a go with Fluent

Hi,

If you know C++, you can download mouse. They have implemted level-set method for free surface flow.

Only thing is that you need to implement turbulence models into it.

Try level-set search in google you can get the refernces.

Good Luck and Happy New Year

thanks for help. but I just want to write codes in Fortran90, unlike using software

thanks for help. but I just want to write codes in Fortran90, and need some examples about free surface flow....

Hope you can get this paper. Till now I have not found any example on free surface flow.

Re: Finite volume or finite differene for free sur

I'm doing research on free surface flow. I have a short paper as shown below: " X.Xie and M. Pasquali, Computing 3-D free surface viscoelastic flows, in A.A. Mammoli and C.A. Brebbia, editors, Moving Boundaries VII: Computational Modeling of Free and Moving Boundary Problems, pages 225-234, Southampton, UK, 2003. WIT Press. "

I think you can find many examples in the book.

By the way, it really takes time to write code starting from scratch. If I were you, I would take A.S. Sun's suggest to start from some existed code and modify it to what you want.

There are some papers by Prof. Peric by both the methods using ALE(moving grids) and VOF

One I am writing down here..

Computation of free-surface flows using interface-tracking and interface-capturing methods

By Samir Muzaferija and Milovan Peric
