Hi everyone!

I m an undergrad interested to obtain a solution for a ram air parachute/payload system....while it is pitching up under aerodynamics forces... but for a partcular time instant.. it takes a lot of time to reach steady state.... is there some way by which i can incorporate unstady effects.... can Fluent do that??

waitin for a reply Yogesh babbar pec, chd

Hi,

This site may be of interest to you. It is the only site dealing with parachutes. The method used here is finite-element. Get a galarkin-based code for it. You can try Rheolef for it.

You can try using Fluent deforming mesh feature but it will be a unsteady feature.

Regards

Hi Everyone,

I am interested in performing a CFD analysis on A Ram air parachute in steady state..If anybody can help me out on the geometry to be anlysed..

I need to know the equations defining the surface of the various surfaces of cells of the parachute.. if possible... or any suggestions... for approximations

thanks Yogesh Babbar

Hi,

You can look into LS-DYNA. I have quite a few people using LS-DYNA to do this type of simulation.
